isters of Mercy are an international community of Roman Catholic women religious vowed to serve people who suffer from poverty, sickness and lack of education with a special concern for women and children.
Please keep our sisters and the Honduran people in prayer. And please take a moment to call the White House and/or send a letter to President Obama asking his Administration:
• to work multilaterally, with the United Nations and Organization of American States, to return President Zelaya to Honduras and support the restoration of constitutional order;
• and to express unequivocal support for democracy and that human rights be respected.
Invitation from the Sisters of Mercy CCASA Community Leadership Team
July 3, 2009 - In our Vision statement as CCASA Community, “we commit ourselves to confront our lives with the Gospel to witness and embody mercy in the world.” Among other things, “this will lead us……to live in solidarity with the poor people of today…… (and) to act in justice for the change of oppressive systems and structures, promoting a non-violent society.”
Today we seek to take one small but significant action to make real our vision. Moved by the turbulent occurrences of violence, loss of life, disruption and suspension of the democratic process and of constitutional rights in Honduras,
We, hereby, invite you to join us in marking Wednesday, July 8, 2009
as a DAY OF SOLIDARITY
with the sisters, associates and people of HONDURAS.
May our concerted energies for peace and justice to prevail encourage, strengthen and support our sisters and associates in this time of social and political upheaval.
