Mercy Volunteer Corps Celebrates 40th Year

March 06, 2018

Founded in 1978 by the Sisters of Mercy, this year Mercy Volunteer Corps (MVC) is celebrating 40 years of serving the most marginalized members of society with those who have generously given of their time and talents.  MVC provides women and men to a year of full-time service with people who are economically poor or marginalized.  Volunteers commit to compassionate service, simple community lifestyle and spiritual growth.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, MVC is hosting special events in each of its service cities throughout the year with a large Celebration of Mercy gathering on  June 7 at Gwynedd Mercy University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

MVC continues to pave the path for a strong future. This year MVC officially welcomed five new service cities to host Mercy Volunteers beginning in August 2018. These sites are located in cities including Baltimore, Detroit, Georgetown (Guyana), New York City, and Pittsburgh. With these new additions, MVC continues to celebrate and widen the circle of Mercy!
