Mercy Volunteer Corps Commissions Newest Volunteers

August 12, 2015

Mercy Volunteer Corps (MVC) commissioned their 38th group volunteers on August 8 at Mercy Chapel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The new MVC volunteers will serve in 10 cities across the United States and South America—including San Francisco, California, the newest MVC service site—in the fields of health care, education and social services.

Over 150 attendees gathered to celebrate the new volunteers, including Sisters of Mercy, Mercy Associates, MVC alumni and family and friends. Sister Sheila Stevenson, RSM, addressed the volunteers, challenging them to be the bread of life in their new ministries. She emphasized the countless number of people who will hold the volunteers in their prayers throughout the coming year.

Mercy Volunteer Corps plans to continue to expand its presence in the coming year, bringing volunteers to new cities and ministries in order to serve those who are poor and marginalized. Learn more about Mercy Volunteer Corps on their website.
