Prayer Service at Toxic Site in St. Louis, Missouri
September 23, 2017
Begins at 11:30 a.m.
Lunch Briefing: John Calvin Presbyterian Church, 12567 Natural Bridge Road, Bridgeton, MO 63044
Site Visit: West Lake Landfill, 13570 St Charles Rock Road, Bridgeton, MO 63044
Please join us for this important prayer event as we highlight the need to protect communities from toxic pollution and urge Congress to fully fund the EPA and its Superfund Program.
The tour will begin with a lunch briefing on Superfund sites in the St. Louis area. We will hear remarks from Rev. Dr. John Shear, pastor of John Calvin Presbyterian Church, and prayers from Sister Corlita Bonnarens, RSM. We will then visit the West Lake Superfund site for prayer and reflection. Gas masks will be provided.
While Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt has said that cleaning up toxic Superfund sites is one of his top priorities, the Trump Administration's proposed budget would cut the EPA's Superfund remediation budget by more than 30 percent. This could have devastating consequences for Missouri, and for the entire nation.
