Sister Angelus GabrielleSister Angelus Gabrielle

75-year Jubilarian

Entered: September 8, 1944 – Cumberland, Rhode Island

Current Ministry: Ministry of Prayer and Presence

Motto: Lord, that I may see

I have loved my life! I knew when I was five years old that I wanted to be a Sister of Mercy. When my first grade teacher (a Mercy) said to the class, "Someday I will need someone to take my place,"  I knew that it would be me. By entering the Mercy community, I have had the opportunity to minister to so many people, especially at St. Matthew's School and St. Peter's School. I believe I still remember the names of my former pupils and where they sat.

What I did is what I thought the Lord expected of me. I recall the wonderful example of my parents and how proud they were of me. My father would read my monthly letters from the novitiate to all his buddies! My prayer has always been: Lord, keep me young and I will work hard. My work has been so rewarding and I am constantly overwhelmed at the goodness of people. I have been blessed!
