Life since entering the Community has had its blessing and its challenges. I am grateful for the opportunities afforded to me by our loving God and by the Community. I have primarily ministered in Connecticut, but for about six years, I lived in Rhode Island when I served as vocation minister and then at St. Teresa Church in Pawtucket as pastoral associate. Since I entered the Community the changes have been numerous, but welcome. Since my entrance, my formation has been grounded in the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, so I welcome our movement towards Oneness, as six regional communities become one Community.
For me religious life is a treasure—a life that continues to make more of me, if I am open to the grace of God. The presence of God in my life is a palpable daily because of where I minister (Mercy by the Sea Retreat and Conference Center), whom I minister with, and because of the sisters I live with, Sisters Mary Daly and Mandy Carrier. I feel grateful to be living a purposeful life and to be sharing my life with women who continue to make our world a better place for people and who challenge our Church about the inequality and lack of representation of women in positions of influence, including priesthood. I remember fondly the words of a wise elderly sister who just before my profession of final vows, when she sensed some hesitation, said, "Our loving God will never lead you to where the grace of God cannot sustain you." In hindsight, this has been so true.
