Sister Mary Fatima St. Germain
Entered: February 2, 1949 – Portland, Maine
Current Ministry: Ministry of Prayer and Presence
Motto: May Christ Live in Me
While in nursing school at the Madigan Hospital in Houlton, I was fortunate that Sister Elizabeth Callahan planted the seed of a vocation, through her question: “Have you ever thought of becoming a Sister of Mercy?” It was through my experiences of my nursing classmates that my sense of community grew. I was ready to accept an invitation [to become a sister], due to the positive example the sisters had given to me. I could not be a Sister of Mercy for 70 years, ministering to others, had the sisters not given me the many opportunities to develop the spiritual aspects of my life—these gave me the objective to be available to people in need.
