Entered: September 12, 1969 – Albany, New York

Current Ministry: Parish Life Director

Motto: I shall be there as who I AM (Exodus 3:14)

After my novitiate, I was hired as a pastoral associate in a large suburban parish in Albany, New York. I ministered to the youth and visited the homebound. It was a wonderful mixture of the wisdom of the elderly and the promise and enthusiasm of the young adult. I ministered there for nine years and then applied for a pastoral associate position for a small mission church in the Helderberg Mountains. Although there was a pastor at the mother church, Father John Roos, he and I worked well together, and he allowed me to lead the mssion parish. After he retired, another priest was appointed pastor; he died, however, in 1997. The bishop appointed me then to take a new position of parish life director leading both St. Lucy's (the mother church), and  St. Bernadette's, the mission church.

As a parish life director of both churches, I have decision-making authority and am responsible for the life of the parish. The sacramental minister administers the sacraments; however, I prepare parishioners for the sacraments. I've been the parish life director for 22 years. It has been and continues to be a privilege and blessing to be with people when they celebrate their most joyous times and when they experience tragedy. I have been featured in a documentary film titled, "A Calling." It is about St. Lucy/St. Bernadette Parish and tells the story of our journey in faith together as a parish led by a woman religious.

Through the Sisters of Mercy, I was able to receive my education with an associate degree from Maria College, a B.S. at SUNY (State University of New York) Albany, and M.A. in counseling psychology at Goddard. I am most thankful for the support and connection I have with our Mercy Community so that I am able to continue my ministry in parish work.
