Sister Mary Mercy McAuliffe
Entered: September 8, 1944 – Cumberland, Rhode Island
Current Ministry: Ministry of Prayer and Presence
Motto: To Jesus through Mary
My years as a Sister of Mercy have been spiritually enriching and intellectually challenging. I served in Mercy education in the Diocese of Fall River for many years. I taught in elementary schools, was librarian at Mount St. Mary High School and principal of Bishop Feehan High School. As a member of the provincial council, I was introduced to national and international Mercy ministries and the wonderful spirit of service to the needs of others that so strongly united our community.
My continued service in administration as provincial of the regional community helped me to more fully understand and deeply appreciate the richness and unique individual talent and influence of each and every Sister of Mercy. My work in the public relations office at Salve Regina University enabled me to more greatly expand my horizons and helped to lead me to serve as principal of Massachusetts Hospital School. After retiring from this position, I was fortunate to be able to return to Salve Regina and to continue in ministry as one of the University librarians. My life has been happy and very fulfilling.
