Sister Patricia A. Sullivan
Entered: September 8, 1959 – Manchester, New Hampshire
Current Ministry: Director of Mission and Spiritual Care, St. Andre Health Care, Biddeford, Maine
Motto: Mori cotidie ad me ipsum (To die daily)
My “tripping about” as a Sister of Mercy began in an Irish Catholic middle-class family, where I was the second of 10 children and the oldest of seven girls. The life-giving joys and sorrows are many in a large and loving family.
I was graced to live and serve in ways I couldn’t have imagined. Many opportunities opened up in living and ministering with people, in near and faraway places. Like our founder Catherine McAuley and countless sisters before me, I was drawn to ministries that helped me to connect the rich with the poor.
Retreats, spiritual direction, friendships, and ministries have enriched my spiritual life. I now read Scripture and the words and actions of Jesus in color.
With the lessons I learned over the years, I will continue to do what I can, when I can, and for as long as I can—instructed, inspired, and grateful.
