Mary Helena Naviaux, RSM

Entered: September 9, 1945

Current Ministry: Ministry of Prayer

Motto: Jesus

I am grateful to have been raised near Lexington, Nebraska. Having not attended Catholic school, but "feeling" that I had a religious vocation, I decided that at age 19 it was time for me to find out. I was living in Kansas City then and the Sisters in the parish where I lived had a novitiate in Council Bluffs which was near enough for my parents to visit when allowed. The Sisters "happened" to be Sisters of Mercy. I was accepted and that was it.

My ministry was to be in nursing. I received my diploma from St. Catherine School of Nursing in 1951, my BSN from College of Saint Mary and my MSN from Catholic University. I ministered as Vice President of Nursing and Allied Health Services in Denver,

I returned to beautiful Denver until moving to Omaha where I have lived since 2003. I have enjoyed visiting the elderly and home bound as a Mercy visitor. "It is a glorious thing to be a Sister of Mercy."
