A Community of Mercy

As the Sisters of Mercy Community of New York Pennsylvania West, we are comprised of 365 sisters and 410 associates from Buffalo, N.Y.; Erie, Pa.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; and Rochester N.Y.

Our ministries ‒ from education, health and housing to establishing Houses of Mercy in impoverished neighborhoods, offering assorted social service and related ministries, meeting spiritual needs and contributing to the life of Catholic parishes ‒ make a difference in the lives of others.

We join the other five communities in the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas in living the legacy started by our founder, Catherine McAuley, in 1831.

You can share in our mission by becoming a sister, associate, Mercy Volunteer Corps member, social justice advocate, or by making a donation to our life-giving ministries.
