South Central

A Community of Mercy

Formed in 2008, the South Central Community spans broad geography, including 18 states, the U.S. Territory of Guam, and the nation of Jamaica. Our headquarters are in Belmont, North Carolina—just outside Charlotte.

Within the continental United States, we extend into Maryland, Ohio and Missouri to the north; to Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana to the south; and to Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas to the west.

That vast geography brings a richness of cultures and opportunities for service to God’s people and for sharing the mission of Mercy in the spirit of our founder Catherine McAuley. Our 600 sisters in the South Central Community serve in a variety of ministries as we respond to the needs of our times. Among these ministries are healthcare, education, housing, pastoral, spiritual and justice initiatives.

You can share in our mission by becoming a sister, associate, Mercy Volunteer Corps member, social justice advocate, or by making a donation.
