Sister Ana María Pineda received the Peter Hinde CRISPAZ Peace Award at Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California, Wednesday, October 15. She was recognized for her lifelong dedication to ministering to the Latino/a community and ongoing efforts to preserve the memory and legacy of the Martyrs of El Salvador.
A native of El Salvador who came to the United States at age two, Ana María has held numerous positions in Hispanic ministry, including as a founding member of the Hispanic Theological Initiative (HTI) and a past president of the Academy of Catholic Hispanic Theologians in the United States (ACHTUS). She is a tenured professor at Santa Clara University and the author numerous articles and books on Hispanic ministry, popular religiosity and pastoral practices.
