On September 24, 1827, Catherine McAuley planted the seed of Mercy in Dublin, Ireland. From there, Mercy took root and blossomed into the Sisters of Mercy. Now, nearly two centuries later, the “Roots of Mercy” have spread into communities in South America, Central America, the Philippines, Guam, the Caribbean and the United States.

That is what we celebrate on Mercy Day 2026.
