Age 87
Sister Kathryn, formally known as Sister Cassion, ministered as an educator for over four decades.
Born in Wilton, New Hampshire, she entered the Sisters of Mercy in Manchester, New Hampshire, at the age of 22. She held a bachelor’s degree in education from Keene State University in Keene, New Hampshire, and a certificate in special education from St. Joseph College in West Hartford, Connecticut.
An elementary and junior high school science teacher for 43 years in the Diocese of Manchester, New Hampshire, nineteen of those years she ministered at St. Patrick School in Jaffrey, New Hampshire. For five years of those years, she taught special education students.
Sister Kathryn also volunteered at Camp Joy and Camp Bernadette, Catholic summer camps in New Hampshire. In her younger days, she enjoyed dancing lessons and synchronized swimming.
For the last 14 years, she lived at Gatewood Manor, a retirement center in Nashua, New Hampshire, where she volunteered as a cancer visitor. A cancer survivor, she brought hope and support to these patients.
