Age 92

Sister Patricia left an indelible mark on all the communities she served.

Inspired by her two aunts, Alice and Bernice Marie, who were Sisters of Mercy, Sister Pat entered the Sisters of Mercy in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 18. After earning her bachelor’s degree in elementary education, she taught for twelve years in the Cincinnati, Ohio, diocese.

Next, she earned her license as a practical nurse and served in Ohio for nine years. In 1977, Sister Pat moved to Knoxville to minister as a chaplain at Saint Mary’s Hospital.  During her 15 years there, her kindness and care demonstrated a vital presence among God’s people. In 1994 Sister moved to Helenwood, Tennessee, to become the pastoral associate at Saint Jude’s Church. Pat ministered to all, but especially to the poor and needy. She left an indelible mark on all the communities she served.

Sister Pat loved the mountains of East Tennessee, and camping was one of her favorite activities. She also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, quilting, and working puzzles and coloring on her iPad.

In 2020 Sister moved to Mercy Convent in Nashville, Tennessee, for her retirement years. Where she continued to minister with compassion and care. She enjoyed being with and praying with the sisters. She visited the sisters in the Infirmary and prayed daily for their needs and for the needs of all those who loved and cared for her.
