Apostolic Novice
I am originally from the Philippines, specifically an island located in the province of Oriental Mindoro.
Meeting the Sisters of Mercy was like a mystery in my vocation journey. When I asked God which congregation I should enter, after googling and saving more than ten contact numbers of congregations in the Philippines on my cell phone, the website of the Sisters of Mercy suddenly appeared on my laptop just at the time I’m about to close it. It was so exaggerated that it appeared on my screen like a big call-out asking: “Do you think you have a calling? Let us know who you are and where you are from!” From there, everything started. I see how God is very much alive in Mercy. It’s a community that is welcoming, supportive, just merciful, and cool—never boring and always loving.
I was an art and religion teacher during my candidacy and later I served as an activity facilitator at Mercy Care Center. Currently I am teaching at the nursery run by our Mercy community here in Guam. I am grateful for the way the community allows me to grow in the teaching profession.
I love spending my free time doing arts like drawing, reading, video editing and painting using acrylic and mud. My favorite book is the classic picture book, The Giving Tree. Aside from its minimalist illustrations, I love the analogy. My favorite book is the classic picture book about “The Giving Tree”. Aside from its minimalist illustration, I also love the allegory of life it reflects. When I was young, I saw the tree more as my parents and grandparents. But now, that tree and its unconditional love continue to reveal a deeper meaning in my relationship with God.
