Age 86

Sister Dot was known for her wise presence, generous spirit and Irish wit and sense of humor.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, she entered the Sisters of Mercy in Syosset, New York, at the age of 18. She earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, New York, a master’s degree in religious education from Fordham University in the Bronx and a master’s degree in business administration from St. John’s University in Queens, New York.

For 24 years, she taught elementary school in the Dioceses of Brooklyn, New York, and Rockville Centre, New York, serving nine years at Holy Innocents parish in Brooklyn and seven years at St. Edward Confessor in Syosset.

She served as assistant treasurer for seven years then treasurer for 13 years for the former Brooklyn regional community. She also ministered as the business manager at Catherine McAuley High School in Brooklyn for a decade. She retired at Angel Guardian Convent in Brooklyn.
