Age 96

Sister Margaret Mary had a long and fruitful ministry in education in various schools throughout the state of New Jersey, teaching first on the elementary level and later in high schools where she was inspired by her motto, “Love Serves.”

She earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Georgian Court College in Lakewood, New Jersey, and a master’s degree in administration and supervision from Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey.

Sister Margaret taught elementary and secondary schools for 27 years in the Trenton, Metuchen and Camden dioceses. After serving as the vice-principal at St. Pius X High School in Piscataway, New Jersey, for a year and at St. Mary’s High School in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, for a year, she became principal at St. Mary’s for ten years.

Sister Margaret ministered for eight years in the finance office for the former New Jersey regional community. She was then appointed as administrator of St. James Convent in Red Bank, New Jersey. In 2006, Sister Margaret retired and moved to Gabriel Hall at Mount Saint Mary in Watchung where she continued to live out her motto.
