Sister Rosella was a Sister of Mercy for 76 years. She attended elementary and high school at St. Catherine Academy in Webster Grove, Missouri, graduating in 1945. She received her Bachelor of Arts in elementary education in 1956 from Webster College in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1970, she received her master’s in education from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Sister Rosella began a cherished career in education in 1948. For almost 60 years, she served in multiple parish schools throughout Missouri, including Christ the King, St. Louis; St. Ambrose in Chaffee; and St. Joan of Arc, which is also in St. Louis. In her later years, she provided volunteer services in various capacities for local area communities, Mercy Conference & Retreat Center, and Catherine’s Residence. The latter has been her home for the past few years, where she delighted all with her lighthearted wit, gentleness, and smiling countenance for all.
Sister Rosella has been a loving companion, community member, ministry leader, and devoted friend to many children, families, parishioners, and sacred loved ones among the Religious Sisters of Mercy. She embraced eternal life in a spirit of joy and peace. May eternal light shine upon her forever!
