I was born in Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay, Philippines and I am the third child and only daughter among six children. I spent my childhood between Alicia and Plaridel, Misamis Occidental, where I later lived with my grandmother during my high school years. Growing up in a simple and faith-filled family taught me the values of prayer, service, resilience, and gratitude. My parents, grandparents, and relatives were actively involved in the Church, and their witness nurtured my relationship with God from an early age.
The Sisters of Mercy were also part of my childhood. They have a convent in my hometown, just beside our parish church, so after Sunday Mass my family would often visit the sisters. I also grew up hearing that my grandfather was one of the first people who helped build the convent. Although I knew the Sisters from a young age, I never imagined that one day I would become one of them.
After finishing my Master’s degree in Marine Biology, I entered a period of deeper discernment, asking God where He wanted me to serve. I prayed for guidance and for the grace to recognize His will. One day, after praying at the Divine Mercy Shrine in El Salvador City, Philippines I was walking down from the shrine when I saw the Sisters of Mercy. I experienced that moment as God’s quiet confirmation to my prayer. It was as if He was gently saying, “This is where I am calling you.” From then on, I continued my discernment with peace and eventually entered the Sisters of Mercy, embracing the charism of compassion, service, and hope.
Today, I am assigned to Mercy Community Hospital, Inc. in Iligan City, where I assist in the ministry of the hospital. I also reside at the Mercy Regional House together with our elderly sisters. Living with them has been a blessing, as their wisdom, joyful witness, and lifelong fidelity continue to inspire me in my own vocation.
Outside of ministry, I enjoy singing, creating art, traveling, reading, and watching films and anime. Music has always been close to my heart. I especially enjoy musical theatre, opera, choir music, contemporary pop, and OPM. Some of my favorite artists and groups include Adele, Lauren Daigle, The Porter’s Gate, Pentatonix, Hozier, and the Philippine Madrigal Singers. I also enjoy anime soundtracks and love watching movies like Game of Thrones and Sherlock. Whether through music, books, or stories, I find beauty in the way they inspire hope, deepen reflection, and remind me of God’s presence in everyday life.
