I was born into a family of 12 children in Machakos in Eastern Kenya. I was blessed to grow up with both of my parents until 2018, when my father passed on.
As a child and pupil, I learned to balance studies, church activities, work, and leisure. In my young age, play was very important to me. It taught me the value of teamwork because I learned to finish my responsibilities quickly so that I could create more time to play with friends. Those are some of the most interesting and cherished moments of my childhood.
Growing up, my studies began to make more sense. Our teachers advised us that it is only through education that we can fight poverty. After completing high school, I became serious about my vocation. I attended youth seminars and sent applications to different religious orders.
I joined a Franciscan congregation and served there for eight years. After leaving that order, I took time to prayerfully discern my call. During this process, a friend introduced me to the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas in 2023. I joined an online discernment group and, on 4th December 2024, I came to join the community here in Guyana.
I am deeply drawn to the spirituality of Catherine McAuley, the foundress of the Sisters of Mercy. Her way of life—which involved seeing, feeling, acting, and sustaining those in need—matches my own desire to respond actively by restoring hope to those who are suffering.
Currently, I serve at a senior residents’ home. I assist the elderly with their activities of daily life. I find great joy in serving God through listening to them, walking with them, and assuring them that they are safe and loved as they approach the end of their lives.
In my free time, I enjoy taking a walk to the park and engaging in outdoor activities. I also love listening to secular music. Many songs feel very natural to me and help me to relax and reflect.
